“I got the rest over the break, got my hammy right,” King said. “Hopefully I can go out there and do everything I normally do on a practice day.”
• Aaron Murray remains mum on whether he plans to enter the NFL Draft.
“I’m not making any decision or saying anything until after this game and want to sit down with my parents and discuss it from there,” he said.
OBITUARY: Joe Krivak, Maryland’s coach from 1987-91, has died. He was 77.
The school said he died Tuesday night.
Krivak was quarterbacks coach for Bobby Ross in the 1980s, working with Boomer Esiason, Frank Reich and Stan Gelbaugh. After Ross left for Georgia Tech after the 1986 season, Krivak was promoted to head coach.
Maryland went 20-34-2 under Krivak, who resigned after the 1991 season.
VIRGINIA TECH: Will honor the victims of the Connecticut school mass shooting with special helmet decals during the Russell Athletic Bowl.
Hokies coach Frank Beamer says the decision to wear the decal was made because Virginia Tech – site of a 2007 mass shooting – feels a kinship with the victims of the Dec. 14 attack in which 20 children and six adults were killed.
The decal is an orange and green folded ribbon, and includes “VT” and “SH” for Sandy Hook on opposite ends. It also includes the number “58” under the word “Prevail.”
SYRACUSE: Suspended tailback Adonis Ameen-Moore and reserve tight end Max Beaulieu for the Pinstripe Bowl for violating athletic department rules.
Head coach Doug Marrone announced the suspensions in an email that did not elaborate on what the players had done.
Ameen-Moore, who was used mainly in the Orange’s short-yardage formation, gained 108 yards on 30 carries and scored six touchdowns in the six games he played. Beaulieu played in just one game this season, a home win over UConn.
Starting outside linebacker Marquis Spruill also has been disciplined. He will not play “a significant portion” of the Pinstripe Bowl against West Virginia.
Spruill and running back Steve Rene were arrested Dec. 2 and charged with misdemeanors after scuffling with Syracuse Police. Marrone did not specify how much of the game Spruill will miss. The junior is fourth on the team in tackles with 62 and is a three-year starter.
