Commodores roll in women's basketball

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jasmine Lister made six 3-pointers and scored 24 points to lead No. 13 Vanderbilt to a 62-45 victory over Lipscomb on Monday night.

Christina Foggie added 13 points for the Commodores (2-0).

Hannah Phillips had 21 points for Lipscomb (0-2).

 

NO. 14 WEST VIRGINIA 60, BOSTON UNIVERSITY 57

In Boston, Ayana Dunning had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots as West Virginia (2-0) held off Boston University (1-1).

The Mountaineers led by seven with 3:51 to go, but Chantell Alford, who scored a career-high 30 points with nine rebounds for the Terriers, tied it at 57 with 29 seconds remaining.

Dunning hit 1 of 2 free throws with 4 seconds left, then knocked down a pair of foul shots 2 seconds later.

Alford, who had already made six 3-pointers, missed from half court with 2 seconds left.

Averee Fields and Crystal Leary added 11 points each for West Virginia.

 

NO. 23 MIAMI 69, RICHMOND 63

In Richmond, Va., Michelle Woods scored a career-high 20 points and Krystal Saunders hit a 3-pointer with 17.9 seconds left to seal Miami’s victory over Richmond (1-1).

Keyona Hayes, Morgan Stroman and Shawnice Wilson had 11 rebounds each for the Hurricanes (2-0).
