Miami quarterback Stephen Morris has sprained ankle

  • Follow College

Stephen Morris has a sprained left ankle, and Miami is preparing for Ryan Williams to be the starting quarterback for Saturday night’s rivalry game against No. 12 Florida State.

X-rays of Morris’ ankle showed no fracture, Miami coach Al Golden said Sunday. Golden also said it’s not a high ankle sprain, which typically takes several weeks to heal.

“It’s the better of the sprains you can get,” Golden said.

GEORGIA: Asked if he still thought outside linebacker Jarvis Jones would play Saturday after missing practices last week with a sprained ankle, coach Mark Richt said: “Oh yeah. Sure do.”

MINNESOTA: Coach Jerry Kill was released from the hospital one day after he had a seizure in the locker room after a loss to Northwestern.

University physician Dr. Pat Smith issued a statement Sunday saying Kill has been treated and is “in excellent health.” Kill has struggled with seizures for years, including several times last season in his first year with Minnesota.

AUBURN: Coach Gene Chizik says he hasn’t made a decision on who will start at quarterback against Vanderbilt.

Clint Moseley claimed the job for Saturday’s 41-20 loss at Mississippi. Kiehl Frazier started the first five games but was benched at halftime against Arkansas.

Chizik says the decision could be similar to last week when Auburn announced Friday that Moseley would start. He says Frazier is “not completely healthy right now” but didn’t elaborate.
