Andrew Ward leads USC Aiken golfers to victory

In Kiawah Island, S.C., Andrew Ward rallied fifth-ranked USC Aiken to victory in the Kiawah Island Invitational golf tournament, marking the 75th tournament victory in the program’s history.

Ward, a sophomore, shot 2-under-par 70 to lead the Pacers, who trailed leader North Alabama by one shot after the first round.

With Ward’s 70, Mark Dickson’s 74, Hayden Letien’s 75 and 76s by Matt Atkins and JP Solis, the Pacers shot 7-over 295 to beat North Alabama by a shot.

In the medalist race, Ward tied for third place at 4-under 140, Atkins, Letien and Solis tied for 14th at 146 and Dickson tied for 53rd at 154.

USC has now won this tournament, now in its ninth year, four times.
