Freshman lifts Miami over Boston College

BOSTON — Freshman Duke Johnson broke two long touchdown runs, rushing for 135 yards to lead Miami to a 41-32 victory over Boston College on Saturday.

Johnson scored from 54 and 56 yards out for the Hurricanes, and Stephen Morris threw for 207 yards and a touchdown

Chase Rettig completed 32 of 51 passes for 441 yards and two touchdowns for BC.

NO. 7 FLORIDA STATE 69, MURRAY STATE 3

In Tallahassee, Fla., Lonnie Pryor, James Wilder Jr., and Debrale Smiley combined for seven rushing touchdowns to lead Florida State over Murray State.

Pryor ran for three TDs, and Smiley and Wilder added two apiece. Wilder finished with 106 yards rushing.

NORTH CAROLINA 62, ELON 0

In Chapel Hill, N.C., Gio Bernard had three first-half touchdowns and North Carolina had its biggest scoring day in 17 years to beat Elon in the debut of new coach Larry Fedora.

VIRGINIA 43, RICHMOND 19

In Charlottesville, Va., Michael Rocco threw for 311 yards and a touchdown and Virginia beat Richmond.

MARYLAND 7, WILLIAM & MARY 6

In College Park, Md., Justus Pickett ran for a 6-yard touchdown with 9:52 left in the fourth quarter, and Brad Craddock added the tie-breaking extra point to give Maryland the victory.

WAKE FOREST 20, LIBERTY 17

In Winston-Salem, N.C., redshirt freshman Deandre Martin scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard run as Wake Forest came from behind to defeat Liberty.

DUKE 46, FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 26

In Durham, N.C., Sean Renfree passed for 290 yards and two scores as Duke stopped Florida International. Renfree hit 21 of 30 attempts.
