Tar Heels rout Blue Devils to win ACC

DURHAM, N.C.— Kendall Marshall had 20 points and 10 assists, and No. 6 North Carolina beat No. 4 Duke 88-70 on Saturday night to win the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title.

Tyler Zeller had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels (27-4, 14-2).

Mason Plumlee had 17 points for the Blue Devils (26-5, 13-3).

NO. 2 SYRACUSE 58, NO. 19 LOUISVILLE 49

In Syracuse, N.Y., Brandon Triche scored 18 points, Kris Joseph added 11 in the final home game of his career, and Syracuse (30-1, 17-1 Big East) beat Louisville (22-9, 10-8).

Syracuse set a conference record for victories and the Orange also finished the regular season with 30 wins for the first time in coach Jim Boeheim’s 36-year tenure.

NO. 7 MISSOURI 81, TEXAS TECH 59

In Lubbock, Texas, Kim English scored 20 points, Marcus Denmon added 17 and Missouri (27-4, 14-3 Big 12) hit a season-best 16 3-pointers to beat Texas Tech.

NO. 8 MARQUETTE 83, NO. 11 GEORGETOWN 69

In Milwaukee, Jae Crowder had 26 points and 14 rebounds in his final home game as a senior, helping Marquette (25-6, 14-4) beat Georgetown (22-7, 12-6) and clinch the No. 2 seed in the Big East Tournament.

IOWA STATE 80, NO. 9 BAYLOR 72

In Ames, Iowa, Scott Christopherson had 23 points in his final home game and Iowa State (22-9, 12-6 Big 12) rallied to beat Baylor (25-6, 12-6) .

NO. 21 SAN DIEGO STATE 98, TEXAS CHRISTIAN 92 (OT)

In Fort Worth, Texas, Jamaal Franklin scored 35 points, including the go-ahead three-point play in overtime, and San Diego State (24-6, 10-4) claimed a share of its second consecutive Mountain West Conference title.

NO. 25 CREIGHTON 99, EVANSVILLE 71

In St. Louis, Gregory Echenique had a season-best 20 points, and Creighton (27-5)
routed Evansville in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament semifinals.

NO. 12 MURRAY STATE 54, TENNESSEE STATE 52

In Nashville, Tenn., Jewuan Long drove the baseline for a layup with 4.4 seconds left, and Murray State (30-1) rallied to beat Tennessee State for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship and an automatic NCAA Tour­nament berth.

ILLINOIS STATE 65, NO. 15 WICHITA STATE 64

In St. Louis, Tyler Brown made two free throws with 6.4 seconds left and finished with 25 points as Illinois State (20-12) upset Wichita State (27-5) in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

NO. 23 TEMPLE 80, FORDHAM 60

In New York, Juan Fernandez scored 19 points, and Temple (24-6, 13-3) beat Fordham to win the Atlantic 10 regular-season title.

TENNESSEE 68, VANDERBILT 61

In Knoxville, Tenn., Cameron Tatum scored 18 points to help Tennessee
(18-13, 10-6) clinch a first-round bye in the South­eastern Conference Tourna­ment with a win over Vander­bilt (21-10, 10-6).

CONNECTICUT 74, PITTSBURGH 65

In Storrs, Conn., Jim Calhoun returned to the bench after more than a month of medical leave and coached Connecticut (18-12, 8-10 Big East) to a win over Pittsburgh (16-15, 5-13).

UNC ASHEVILLE 80, VMI 64

In Asheville, N.C., Matt Dickey scored 15 points as UNC Asheville (24-9) won the Big South Conference Tournament championship game to earn its second consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament.

BELMONT 83, FLORIDA GULF COAST 69

In Macon, Ga., Ian Clark scored 16 points and Belmont (27-7) rallied from a 13-point deficit to beat Florida Gulf Coast in the Atlantic Sun Tournament title game and earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
