Kedric Taylor. Paine’s freshman guard messed around and got a triple double Thursday night against Miles. Does anyone have a clue if that’s the first triple double in Lions history? If so, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thieves. Here’s hoping very bad things happen to the thief (or thieves) who swiped $200 from the Miles locker room Thursday night at Richmond Academy. Where was the security in the back hallway? Those things should never happen.
GAME OF THE DAY
The Augusta State men play host to Mount Olive at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Jaguars need a region victory to help their Division II Tournament at-large chances – provided they don’t win the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. A loss, on the other hand, makes things much more difficult.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Is Paine for real? The Lions are off to a fast start in conference play, giving their fans something to cheer about for the first time in a long time. Paine opens up a four-game road stretch against teams that are a combined 3-16. If the Lions can sweep those four games, they might have the staying power to bid for their first regular season league title.
Augusta State (4-5, 1-1): Jaguars open up a four-game homestand today and play seven of their next 10 at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Paine (5-1, 4-0): Paine senior forward Geno Green is eligible for the spring semester and will return after serving the final two games of a three-game suspension for violation of team rules.
USC Aiken (8-1, 2-0): Sterling Council, Chase Holmes and Re’mon Nelson each shooting 87 percent or better from the foul line.
Augusta State (6-3, 2-0): Lady Jaguars go for sixth win in a row when they play host to Erskine at 2 p.m. today.
Paine (2-6, 2-2): Lady Lions need to start heaving up more 3-pointers.
USC Aiken (9-1, 2-0): Guard Brittany Hill averaging 4.3 assists against 1.6 turnovers.
