Georgia stunned by Gonzaga's late 3-pointer

LAS VEGAS — Haiden Palmer’s 3-pointer with two-tenths of a second left gave Gonzaga a 71-68 victory over No. 13 Georgia in a Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic game Monday night.

Gonzaga never led in the game until Palmer pulled up just behind the top of the key and made her 3-pointer to cap a 22-4 run that ended the game. Palmer had 13 of her 22 points during the closing run.

“She’s had a great year,” Gonzaga coach Kelly Graves said. “She’s been our most consistent player up to this point””

Gonzaga built an eight-point halftime lead to 64-49 before the winners went on their game-ending run.

Georgia (8-2) was led by Jasmine Hassell with 21 points while Anne Marie Armstrong had 15 and Jasmine James added 13.

NO. 11 OHIO STATE 88, CHARLOTTE 58

In Columbus, Ohio, Tayler Hill scored 16 of her 25 points in the second half and Ohio State beat Charlotte.

Samantha Prahalis had 19 points and reserve forward Darryce Moore finished with 10 for the Buckeyes (11-0), who have won 22 of 23 dating to last season.

NO. 19 DELAWARE 68, PROVIDENCE 47

In Providence, R.I., Elena Delle Donne scored 29 points to lead Delaware to a victory over Providence.

NO. 23 DEPAUL 73, ILLINOIS STATE 54

In Normal, Ill., Jasmine Penny scored a career-high 20 points to help DePaul beat Illinois State.
