Richt says he's happy with Bulldogs

Georgia coach Mark Richt has no plans to leave the Bulldogs, according to a statement released Saturday amid reports he was offered and turned down the coaching job at Texas A&M.

“I’ve said many times Georgia is the place I want to be as long as Georgia will have me,” Richt said in the statement. “That has never changed. And it’s gratifying to know Georgia wants me. I have not talked to any other school about a job nor do I have any interest in doing so. My interest is having a great recruiting year and start building toward next season.”

Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity has said there was no truth to reports that Texas A&M was courting Richt for its coaching vacancy, but the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle reported earlier this week that unnamed sources said Richt was a candidate for the job and that he had since turned down the school’s offer.

Richt and McGarity began extension talks on Friday morning.

TEXAS A&M: Hired Houston’s Kevin Sumlin as its new coach.

Texas A&M athletic director Bill Byrne said he believes Sumlin “is the right person to lead our football program into the Southeastern Conference.”

UCLA: Veteran NFL coach Jim Mora has been hired as head coach, replacing Rick Neuheisel and becoming the first football coach of the Bruins in more than 60 years with no ties to the school.

Mora was the coach of the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks, going 31-33 over four seasons.

OKLAHOMA: Coach Bob Stoops says that starting receiver Jaz Reynolds has been hospitalized for the past week after hurting his kidney in a loss at Oklahoma State last week and will miss the bowl game. He also said fullback Aaron Ripkowski (back) will miss the bowl game with a back injury and Brandon Williams (neck) will sit out.
