ESPN at 8:15 tonight and the selections are announced. I've already told you where UGA and USC are going and their opponents. Clemson we know about, too. I wish I was at some kind of event where I could throw some oranges. Maybe I should go to Warren Rd. Baptist tonight and throw oranges from the balcony.

So, what happens if Alabama

So, what happens if Alabama beats LSU?

Can they really claim the championship when LSU has already beaten them on their home field?

Wow...Va Tech is going to the Sugar Bowl. Someone explain to me why that isn't South Carolina? They're ranked higher, beat Clemson while Va Tech got beat by Clemson THIS week. Carolina fans travel as well as Va Tech fans. This isn't right.

LSU v. Ala reminds me of the

LSU v. Ala reminds me of the 1959 LSU v. Miss games. LSU had beaten Miss during the regular season 7-3 thanks to a famous, miraculous 89 yard Halloween night run by Billy Cannon. But the teams played again in the Sugar Bowl and Miss prevailed easily 21-0 to win the National Championship in some fragmented polls like they had back then.

River, limit 2 SEC teams allowed in BCS game. Va Tech doesn't deserve it.

I thought the Sugar Bowl was

I thought the Sugar Bowl was attached to the SEC and yet no SEC team is going to play there. Although SC did beat UGA, UGA is the runner up in the SEC so why would UGA not go to the Sugar Bowl? It is WAY past time for this BCS crap to go away. There has to be a better way. I've been surprised all these years that the NCAA even let the BCS happen because it has no affiliation with the NCAA as far as God can tell. In other words, making a run of 10-0 after a 0-2 start and playing in the championship game of the strongest conference in college football and losing to the #1 team really got UGA nothing. More than likely if UGA had WON the game, they'd still be in the same situation.

justthefacts, my opinion and

justthefacts, my opinion and 20 bucks will get you a cup of coffee, but LSU beating Alabama on the road makes them better than Alabama beating LSU on a neutral field.

That being said, if Alabama wins, no one will talk about LSU beating them already.

In my book, though, they will tied 1-1 and need another game to settle it.

Ahhh, the wonders of the BCS.

Coastal, only 2 SEC teams

Coastal, only 2 SEC teams could play in BSC games (rule would have been waved if UGA had won the conference).

It's at this point in the
Unpublished

It's at this point in the season that my interest in college football starts to evaporate. The bowl selection circus is a fiasco, as are most of the games.

As for the LSU-'Bama game, it has to happen. The first game settled nothing, IMHO. The Tide were all over the Tigers and if they'd had a kicker, the game would not have gone to overtime.

Saban is a better coach than Miles and the Tide will roll on Jan 9. Count on it.

JTF, whose rule is it that

JTF, whose rule is it that you can't have more than two SEC teams in BCS bowl games? Where did that come from? It would have been waived if Ga had won? I just don't get it. Carolina played a tougher schedule than Va Tech and has an even greater traveling fan base. Plus, the Sugar Bowl is in our conference territory. Without an SEC team in it, it's going to be boring. Just doesn't seem right. If the SEC is as dominant we all now realize, that rule has to be changed.

I believe that next year, the BCS committee will only pick 1 and 2, leaving the bowls the ability to choose all other match-ups. That will be an improvement. But, still, like this year, there will be controversy.

I remember when making it to

I remember when making it to a bowl game was an accomplishment.

With 35 bowls, the top 70 teams head to a bowl.

What an achievement.

You have to try really hard not to make it to a bowl of some sort.

Look at the bright side, 70

Look at the bright side, 70 teams get to play in another game. They have a great time. What is the downside? There will be great games (LSU-AL), intriguing games (OK ST-Stanford), and dreadful games (GA Tech-Utah). We can watch all 35 games or none. No one is hurt.

And why not give everyone a championship trophy? No one will get hurt. Everyone will have a great time.

A bowl bid should be earned, not given.

That doesn't even make sense.

That doesn't even make sense. Only the winner of the game will receive the trophy. So, how many games should we have? 10? 12? 70 teams won 6 or more games. They are not deserving? Who decides where the cutoff lies for the participates of these 10 or 12 games? 8 wins would not get you in. BTW, it's all about money you know. These bowl games make a lot of money, much of which goes to charity. I still do not see how this hurts anybody.

There is nothing wrong with

There is nothing wrong with all of the added bowl games. Generally, they create match-ups between teams that ordinarily would never face each other. Yes, the teams do receive trophies, but no one is confusing the trophies with national championship hardware. The added trophies are pretty much the same as the ones that are passed back and forth between the B1G schools on a yearly basis in the rivalry games. As for the national championship game, I would hardly call New Orleans a neutral site. Both teams travel extremely well, but it will be a sea of purple and yellow in the Superdome. Other than that, by BCS definition all other bowl games are appropriately matched. Now, you can argue the BCS definition all you want, but that is how it is for now.

what about this scenario

what about this scenario theres 35 bowl games how about top 32 teams play games, then those winners 16 play each other and so on and so on with a total of 31 games played altogether be cause i would really like to see a playoff like NCAA Basketball and this makes it more interesting not having to watch games like ohio/ utahstate or SMU at Pitt
