Southern Methodist tops Georgia Southern

DALLAS — Cannen Cunningham hit two key free throws down the stretch and scored a career-high 18 points to help Southern Methodist defeat Georgia Southern 55-49 on Sunday.

Cunningham’s free throws came with 30 seconds left to build the lead to 53-49 and Robert Nyakundi hit two more free throws with 15 seconds left for the Mustangs (4-3).

Georgia Southern (1-4) scored 22 points off turnovers, but SMU made up for miscues with 24 points off the bench.

NO. 17 PITTSBURGH 81,  ROBERT MORRIS 71

In Pittsburgh, Ashton Gibbs scored 21 points and Cameron Wright added a career-high 13 as Pittsburgh rolled past Robert Morris.

The Panthers (5-1) won their third consecutive by shooting 55 percent from the field in the first half.

Cordon Williams led Robert Morris (4-2) with 19 points.

NO. 21 MISSOURI 88, BINGHAMTON 59

In Columbia, Mo., Kim English scored a career-high 29 points, including 22 in the first half, and Missouri routed winless Binghamton.

The Big 12’s leading 3-point shooter hit 7 of 10 from behind the arc.

NO. 24 MISSISSIPPI STATE 82, NORTH TEXAS 59

In Starkville, Miss., Arnett Moultrie scored 20 points and Dee Bost added 18 for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs shot 51.9 percent from the field the game.
