CLEMSON, S.C. --- Clemson was ready when South Carolina coach Ray Tanner brought in stopper Matt Price to try to protect a one-run lead Sunday in the second game of a three-game series.
"Our kids saw (Price) warming up, so we knew they were bringing him in," Clemson coach Jack Leggett said. "We had a bit of a look at him the other night. We made some pretty good adjustments this time around."
Shut down without a baserunner in 1w innings by Price on Friday night, the 12th-ranked Tigers ripped the sophomore right-hander for six runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 10-5 victory.
Jeff Schaus, hitting just .160, broke a 5-5 tie with a double to right-center that drove in Brad Miller. Will Lamb later cleared the bases with a single. Schaus had given the Tigers (7-2) their first lead with a two-run double in the third.
"We knew what to expect," Schaus said of Price, who had 10 saves last year for the defending national champion and fourth-ranked Gamecocks (8-1). "I was just looking for a fastball, he left it inside and I got the barrel on it."
Sophomore left-hander Joe Moorefield (1-0), the fourth Clemson pitcher, pitched two scoreless innings for the victory.
Starter Kevin Brady left with a tender elbow after four innings.
Price, who had earned his third save of the season Friday night, dropped to 0-1 after giving up four hits and two walks in just two-thirds of an inning.
Clemson had 15 hits against six pitchers. The Gamecocks had only five hits, though two were home runs by Jackie Bradley Jr. and Christian Walker.
