Meyer will call one game a week during the regular season and also serve as a studio analyst, the network said Monday. He will start with Wednesday's signing day coverage.
When he resigned Dec. 8, the 46-year-old said he wanted to spend more time with his family. He insisted on a conference call that his new job wouldn't get in the way of that, with minimal commitment during the offseason and travel only over the weekend in-season.
ESPN executive vice president Norby Williamson said network officials would have no reservations about having Meyer analyze the Gators right away. If anything, they welcome it.
VANDERBILT : Coach James Franklin completed his staff with the hiring of four assistants, including Bob Shoop as defensive coordinator and Brent Pry as co-defensive coordinator.
Shoop, who also will coach the Commodores' safeties, spent the past four seasons as defensive coordinator at William and Mary, where in 2010 his defense limited opponents to 16.7 points per game.
Pry will also coach Vanderbilt's linebackers. He spent the past season at Georgia Southern, which limited opponents to 286.9 yards per game.
Also joining the staff is former Miami assistant Wesley McGriff , who will coach defensive backs and serve as defensive recruiting coordinator, and former Bowling Green assistant Sean Spencer , who will be in charge of the defensive line.

PENN STATE: Nike Inc. is giving $400,000 to Penn State's libraries in honor of Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno 's milestone 400th win. Paterno and his wife, Sue , have been staunch supporters of the libraries, and one of the school's main libraries is named after the family.
