Multiple media outlets report the university is reviewing a claim that Richardson assaulted a woman in the Williams-Brice Stadium parking lot. The State newspaper of Columbia reports university spokeswoman Margaret Lamb said no charges were filed and police had closed the case.
Richardson is a 6-foot-4, 290-pound junior who was already out as he recovered from shoulder surgery. Spurrier says Richardson can't take part in team activities while on suspension.

TENESSEE: Another Tennessee coach, another jab at the Volunteers by Spurrier.
The South Carolina coach commented on his radio program Thursday night about Tennessee's efforts to delay or buy out a two-game series with North Carolina by saying, "Golly, times have changed when Tennessee doesn't want to play North Carolina in football because they're too good for them," and "We're not going to bail out from playing North Carolina the way Tennessee did."
Derek Dooley responded on the Dan Patrick Show radio program on Friday, "I guess I wouldn't be an official member of the SEC if coach Spurrier hasn't taken a shot at our program."
GEORGIA: Receiver A.J. Green is still barred from commenting on the NCAA inquiry regarding improper contact with agents, but that question might be resolvedquickly.
"Not yet, not yet," Green said Friday when asked about the inquiry. "I hope it's coming soon. It should be sometime next week or whenever."
Green told the Athens Banner-Herald last month that Georgia officials asked him about a Memorial Day weekend trip to Miami for an agent-hosted party, but he denied having ever visited Miami.
Green said the inquiry has not been a distraction.
"Not at all," he said.
