Duke women drop Georgia Tech

DULUTH, Ga. — Elizabeth Williams had 20 points and 11 rebounds, Richa Jackson added 17 points and No. 5 Duke won its ninth consecutive game with a 79-62 victory over Georgia Tech on Wednesday night.

The Blue Devils (15-2, 5-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) have beaten Georgia Tech 34 consecutive times and haven’t lost to the Yellow Jackets since Feb. 27, 1994.

Sasha Goodlett finished with 25 points for Georgia Tech (13-6, 3-3). The Yellow Jackets, who had a two-game winning streak snapped, have lost three of five with all three defeats coming to ranked ACC rivals Maryland, Miami and Duke.

Tyuanna Marshall scored 13 points for Georgia Tech.

NO. 1 BAYLOR 72,


In Lubbock, Texas, Brittney Griner scored 21 points to lead Baylor (18-0, 5-0 Big 12) over Texas Tech (14-3, 2-3).

Texas Tech cut the lead to 69-63 when Monique Smalls made a layup with 1:12 left.

But Griner, who finished 7 of 16 from the field with eight blocks, hit a short jumper from the left side to put the Lady Bears back up by eight 71-63 and seal the win.

Destiny Williams scored 16 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds for Baylor.

NO. 14 TEXAS A&M 78,


In College Station, Texas, Sydney Carter and Adaora Elonu each scored 16 points and Texas A&M (12-4, 3-2) beat Missouri (10-6, 0-5) to give coach Gary Blair his 200th win with the Aggies.



In Louisville, Ky., freshman Bria Smith scored 12 points and the Cardinals (15-4, 4-2 Big East) defeated Providence (10-9, 2-4).
