In Savannah, Ga., the Augusta GreenJackets couldn’t hold a lead against the Savannah Sand Gnats for the second consecutive night and now need a win Sunday to avoid a four-game series sweep.
On Saturday, Savannah scored two runs in the ninth inning to beat Augusta 2-1. In Friday’s game, the Sand Gnats rallied to win 6-5.
The GreenJackets (26-22) scored their run on Saturday in the sixth inning on Ben Turner’s single. It held up until the ninth when the Sand Gnats roughed up Tyler Mizenko, who had just entered the game.
Jeff Glenn’s RBI single tied the game and Phillip Evans won it with a two-out walk-off RBI single.
Savannah has won the first three games of the series. The finale starts at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday.
