Augusta GreenJackets pitcher Edward Concepcion has been suspended for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, according to a team official.

The right-handed reliever will serve a 25-game suspension starting tonight when the GreenJackets play a double-header in Savannah to start the second half of the regular season.

The 22-year-old Dominican is in his sixth season in the San Francisco Giants minor league system. In his first year of full-season ball, he has posted a 1-1 record and 3.51 ERA in 28 relief appearances for Augusta. He hasn't allowed an earned run in his last eight outings, a stretch of 11 consecutive scoreless innings.

There are almost no drug

There are almost no drug tests for US sports so it's no surprise. In cycling he would be facing two years with no pay and no team to play for.
