Augusta GreenJackets return core of coaching staff

  • Follow Baseball

The Augusta GreenJackets will bring back the core of their coaching staff from last year’s playoff team that finished first in the South Atlantic League’s Southern Division.

Mike Goff will return as Augusta’s manager for the second season after leading the GreenJackets to an 82-55 record in 2013, the best in the league.

Pitching coach Steve Kline will return, as will hitting coach Hector Borg. Joining Borg as co-hitting coach is Todd Linden, a former first-round draft pick out of LSU who played five years in the major leagues between the Giants and Florida Marlins. Linden will be in his first season as a coach after playing for Triple-A Fresno the past two years.

The GreenJackets will have a new trainer in Andrew Benning, and a new strength and conditioning coach in Cesar Vasquez.

Augusta will open the 2014 season at home against the Charleston RiverDogs on April 3.

Awesome. Gonna miss it. The

Awesome. Gonna miss it. The raggety utility shed with "mezzanine". The foul balls and all those windshields or even watching one dribble weightlessly down the slope and into the lake. Even the rooty pines in the lot behind left field. BUT, new stadium is exciting too. Cannot wait til Spring training.
