BRAVES: Catcher Brian McCann is expected to be ready for the playoffs, even though the catcher is not expected to start any of the team’s final three regular-season games.

McCann left Thursday’s game against the Phillies with an adductor strain. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Friday the team’s medical staff believes “we dodged a bullet” because the injury is not believed to be serious.

MARINERS: Manager Eric Wedge has told the team he will not return for next season.

The Mariners said that Wedge will manage the final three games of the season against Oakland.

Wedge managed Cleveland from 2003-09 and was hired by Seattle in October 2010.

TIGERS: Jhonny Peralta returned from a 50-game suspension Friday night.

Suspended for his involvement with the Miami-based Biogenesis lab, Peralta started in the outfield for the first time in his major league career.

CARDINALS: Ruled first baseman Allen Craig (foot) out for the division series.

MARLINS: President of baseball operations Larry Beinfest was fired by owner Jeffrey Loria after 12 years with the franchise.

Loria also fired Jim Fleming, who had been Beinfest’s special assistant.

DODGERS: After Thursday’s game against San Francisco, reliever Brian Wilson lashed out at Giants chief executive officer Larry Baer.

After months of trying to present the former Augusta GreenJacket with his 2012 World Series ring, Baer did his best after the Dodgers’ 3-2 loss Thursday night.

Once Wilson was done yelling, Baer walked to the other side of the ballpark and delivered the ring to Dodgers personnel outside the Los Angeles clubhouse to give to the pitcher.

“We have been for seven months trying to give him his World Series ring, and tried these past three days,” Giants spokeswoman Staci Slaughter said.

“It’s been more challenging than we expected. We’ve given the ring to the Dodgers and he now has it. We really tried to do the right thing. We invited him to the ring ceremony. A number of members of our organization repeatedly reached out to him and we didn’t get any response.”

Wilson wasn’t around in the clubhouse after the game.
