YANKEES: Alex Rodriguez went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts for the Tampa Yankees on Saturday, dropping to 2 for 18 (.111) with one RBI and five strikeouts in his injury rehabilitation assignment.

One day after meeting with Major League Baseball officials probing the distribution of banned performance-enhancing drugs, the third baseman played seven innings in the field. He also was hit in the lower back by a pitch.

Rodriguez, coming back from January hip surgery, has played seven games for Tampa and Charleston, both Class A farm teams. His rehab assignment can extend through July 21.

DODGERS: Rookie Yasiel Puig was out of the lineup on Saturday because of a sore left hip.

The outfielder left Friday night’s game after four innings. His hip has troubled him since he ran into the fence making a catch on July 3.

Puig is hitting .392 with eight home runs and 19 RBI.

PIRATES: Former Braves prospect Jeff Locke will sit out next week’s All-Star Game because of stiffness in his lower back.

Locke will also skip his scheduled start today against the New York Mets. Rookie Gerrit Cole will start in his place.

PHILLIES: Center fielder Ben Revere broke his right foot on a foul ball before grounding into a game-ending double play against the White Sox. X-rays revealed the break, and he will see a specialist Monday.

ASTROS: Made an investment in their future, signing second baseman Jose Altuve to a four-year contract through 2017.

Altuve’s deal covers his arbitration-eligible years and includes club options for 2018 and 2019.

CUBS: Claimed outfielder Cole Gillespie off waivers from San Francisco.
