The Augusta GreenJackets announced their coaching staff for the 2013 season, featuring a new manager.

Mike Goff will take over as manager of the GreenJackets after previously managing the Arizona League Giants from 2009-2011. Steve Kline will return as pitching coach, while former GreenJacket Hector Borg will be hitting coach.

Goff managed the rookie league affiliate of the Giants to the best overall record in the league two consecutive seasons. He managed the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts in 2008, then an affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Before that, Goff served as the Seattle Mariners’ first base coach and later as bench coach under John McLaren in 2007.

Goff also served nine years as coordinator of instruction for the Mariners’ minor league system. He was an infielder in the Boston Red Sox system from 1984-1988.

Kline returns as pitching coach after holding the position for the Class-A Advanced San Jose Giants in 2012. He was previously the coach for Augusta in 2010-2011. Kline played 11 seasons in the majors as a left-handed reliever.

Borg played for the GreenJackets in 2006 and began coaching the Dominican Summer League Giants in 2008. He spent last year as an infield instructor for Salem-Keizer, the Class-A short season affiliate for the Giants.
