GreenJackets lose on bizarre play

In Salisbury, Md.,  Jason Esposito scored the game-winner in the ninth inning on a bizarre play as Delmarva edged Augusta 6-5 on Thursday night.

With one out and Esposito on third base and Christopher Marlowe pitching, Glynn Davis struck out swinging, but the ball got away.

Catcher Joe Staley’s throw to first completed the strikeout with Esposito breaking for the plate simultaneously.
 
Garrett Buechele’s return throw home was late and Esposito scored.

Shawn Payne had two hits and RBI for the GreenJackets, who needed a victory to reach the .500 mark.
