DODGERS: Placed right-hander Chad Billingsley on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

METS: Right-hander Dillon Gee says he could pitch again this season after surgery to repair an artery in his throwing arm. Gee said he could be cleared to throw within six weeks. He doesn’t believe it will take long to regain his strength after that.

REDS: First baseman Joey Votto had surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee. He’ll miss three to four weeks.

ROYALS: Designated struggling starter Jonathan Sanchez for assignment. The former Augusta GreenJacket was 1-6 with a 7.76 ERA in 12 starts.

BLUE JAYS: Jose Bautista was placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday with inflammation in his left wrist.

The team did not give a timetable for Bautista’s return.

YANKEES: Cut Darnell McDonald to make room on the roster for CC Sabathia, who came off the DL on Tuesday to pitch against Toronto, his first start since June 24.

RAYS: Reinstated outfielder Matt Joyce (oblique) from the 15-day disabled list.
