For the second time in five nights thunderstorms have postponed play at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
The Augusta GreenJackets and West Virginia Power will try again Tuesday with a doubleheader scheduled to start at 5:05 p.m. Gates will open to fans at 4:30.
Heavy thunderstorms bringing thunder, lightning, strong winds and driving rain blanked the stadium just after the two teams wrapped up batting practice.
An already saturated field, which has seen heavy rain throughout most of the current eight-game homestand, quickly disappeared underwater along the warning track and in portions of the outfield.
First pitch was delayed 50 minutes before the game called off for the night.
Tickets to tonight’s game can be redeemed for admission to any remaining regular season home game.
