GIANTS: Third baseman Pablo Sandoval was placed on the disabled list with a broken bone in his right wrist, and third baseman Ryan Rohlinger was called up from Triple-A Fresno on Sunday.
The break in Sandoval's hamate bone was revealed in an MRI Saturday morning. He is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Sunday's move was retroactive to Saturday. The former Augusta GreenJacket was hitting .313 with five homers and 14 RBI this season.
DODGERS: Los Angeles activated reliever Hong-Chih Kuo from the 15-day disabled list and optioned hard-throwing Kenley Jansen to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Kuo made only four appearances before a lower back strain on his left side landed the left-hander on the DL for the fifth time in five seasons.
ASTROS: Left fielder Carlos Lee was carted off the field Sunday after shortstop Angel Sanchez slid knee-first into his ribs while the two were going for a pop-fly double. A chest X-ray did not reveal any rib fractures, but Lee was still scheduled to undergo a CT scan Sunday.
PIRATES: Pittsburgh outfielder Jose Tabata was out of the lineup Sunday so he could rest his sore right hamstring. Tabata left Saturday's game in the first inning with tightness in the hamstring after running out a ground ball. Manager Clint Hurdle said he would also sit out today's game.
