Georgia’s loaded football recruiting class just got another five-star prospect.
Tyson Campbell, a five-star cornerback from American Heritage High in Plantation, Fla., announced Wednesday morning that he is signing with Georgia over Alabama and Miami.
“It’s a place I can see myself playing at,” Campbell said on ESPNU. “I feel like it’s a great coaching staff. …Kirby Smart, he just showed me a bunch of love. I feel like he was keeping it real from the get-go. It’s just up to me to put the work in if I want to get on the field as a freshman.”
The 6-foot-2, 1/2 , 185-pound Campbell is rated as the No. 12 overall prospect on the 247Sports Composite. He’s Georgia’s seventh five-star in this class.
Georgia now has seven of the top 25 in the ESPN300.
“Six-foot-3 corners aren’t standing on every street corner,” ESPN director or recruiting Tom Luginbill said on air this week. “Tyson Campbell…has that length, has the safety’s mentality. A little bit like Carlton Davis from Auburn, he’s got that type of length with his arms and his height. He’s got that ability to matchup.”
