Auto Racing

-- The Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society will hold activities on Sept. 15-16 at Diamond Lakes Community Center. The hall of fame induction and banquet will be held Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. Cost is $20. Inductees are Donnie Allison, Bobby “Fireball” Bates, Bubba Pennington, Archie Graham and Ray Cagle. On Sept. 16, the racing reunion will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and admission is free. Vintage and current race cars will be on display, autograph sessions will be held and Allison is scheduled to hold a book signing. For more information, contact Harvey Tollison at (706) 829-6825.

Baseball

--​ Former college and MLB pitcher David Noyce will hold his second annual Southpaw Roofing Youth Baseball Camp on Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. -2 p.m. at North Augusta’s Riverview Park. The free camp is open to any area child ages 8 to 12. Ron Smith, the former head coach at Furman University, will be the guest speaker. Instructors include several former professional players with ties to the area. Registration will be held the day of the camp from 8-8:45 a.m.

Basketball

--​ Registration is now open for high school middle school, AAU and individual players for the Hoop Quest Fall Basketball League, which will be held Aug. 26-Oct. 29. -- Centerra-SRS will host its 24th annual United Way Golf Tournament on Friday, Oct. 13, at Woodside Plantation Country Club. The entry fee is $500 per foursome with proceeds going to United Way. Contact Rob Davis by phone (803-952-7582) or email (rob.davis@srs.gov) for more information.
