Two Augusta GreenJackets were named Tuesday to the Southern Division team for the South Atlantic League All-Star Game.
Infielder Kelvin Beltre and left-handed pitcher Domenic Mazza were chosen for the South squad. The game will be played June 20 at Columbia’s Spirit Communications Park.
Beltre, a 20-year-old Dominican, is hitting .270 with 19 extra-base hits and 20 RBI in 46 games. He’s making the transition to second base this year after playing mostly third in Augusta last season.
Mazza, a 22-year-old from California, has a 3.93 ERA with 10 walks to 38 strikeouts in nine starts spanning 55 innings. He tossed a perfect game at Lexington on April 25, the first to cover nine innings in South Atlantic League history.
