David and J.C. Whyte, three bass, 10.11 pounds. Big fish: Cole and Beck, 7.14 pounds. Thirty boats in the field.

Top Dawg Bass Tournament

Oct. 29, Wildwood Park,

Entry fee $125 per two-man team. Includes big fish pot. One place for every 10 boats. Hours safe light until 3 p.m. Rules, regulations and boat draw will be held Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 at The Tackle Shop, or at the ramp on tournament morning. The event raised money to support Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources Fisheries in its striped bass and hybrid production.

Thirty of 44 teams weighed in 148 bass weighing 478.14 pounds and all but two were released alive. Total tournament payout: $6,440. NOTE: A $500 sponsorship check was presented to the North Agusta and Augusta University fishing teams. Thanks to the youth anglers for assisting with the weigh-ins.

Tournaments will be limited to the first 20 boats and are open to all ID cardholders and the public with a FortGordon fishing license guest permit. Entry fee is $10 per Fort Gordon Sportsman Club member, $20 per non-member, with an optional $5 big fish pot, with a guaranteed $100 for first place and $50 for second place. Registration is with the club prior to the tournament or 30 minutes before the event’s start. State licenses and FortGordon fishing permits required.
