Jaguar women golfers lead at Furman

In Greenville, S.C., the Georgia Regents women’s golf team took the first-round lead in the Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman University Golf Course on Friday.

Eunice Yi, a freshman out of Lakeside High, shot 4-under-par 68 to lead the Jaguars, who shot 3-under-par 285 for a two-shot lead over Clemson.

The Tigers, who are fielding a women’s golf team for the first time in school history, were led by former Columbia County resident Ashlan Ramsey, who matched Yi’s 68 to tie for the individual lead.

In addition to Yi, the Jaguars counted Casey Kennedy’s 69, Josefine Nyqvist’s 73 and Christine Duschek-Hansen’s 75.

Jessica Haigwood’s 78 was the noncounting score for Georgia Regents. Shannon Pak played as a noncounting individual for the Jaguars and shot 82.

Clemson’s McKenzie Talbert, of Edgefield County, shot 72 and is tied for 10th place. Freshman Jessica Hoang, a former North Augusta High golfer, had a noncounting 79 for the Tigers. Former Columbia County resident Taylor Ramsey had 78 while playing as a noncounting individual for Clemson.
