BRAVES: Purchased the contract of veteran right-hander Freddy Garcia from Triple-A Gwinnett.

The 36-year-old Garcia is expected to pitch out of the bullpen.

Manager Fredi Gonzalez says Garcia also could be used as a spot starter in the final month.

ROCKIES: Right-hander Tyler Chatwood left Sunday’s game against Cincinnati after being hit in his pitching hand by a line drive.

Chatwood, who was activated from the 15-day DL before the game, tried to catch Mike Leake’s line drive up the middle with his bare hand.

RED SOX: Right fielder Shane Victorino has left Sunday’s game against the White Sox with a bruised left hip.

RANGERS: Veteran designated hitter Lance Berkman has been activated from the disabled list by the Texas Rangers.

DODGERS: Acquired infielder Michael Young from Philadelphia. The Dodgers received cash from the Phillies in exchange for minor league left-hander Rob Rasmussen.
