Jackets to play two twin bills
A doubleheader between the Augusta GreenJackets and Savannah Sand Gnats scheduled for Saturday was postponed because of rain.
The teams will make up the two games with a doubleheader today, with the first game beginning at 1 p.m. Gates will open at 12:30.
A second doubleheader is scheduled for Monday, with first pitch at 5:30. Gates will open at 5.
The second game of both doubleheaders will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first games. All four games are scheduled for seven innings.
The postponement marks the second consecutive day the teams have been unable to begin the series because of rain.
Justin Schumer and Matt Lujan will start today for the GreenJackets.
Belcher added to Pacers staff
Former South Carolina standout Nolan Belcher has joined the staff at USC Aiken.
USC Aiken coach Kenny Thomas said Belcher will assist with pitching and defense and coach first base.
“We are so excited to have Nolan on our staff,” Thomas said. “He is a great addition to the program.”
Belcher posted 18 wins and 3.30 ERA at South Carolina after a stellar high school career at Greenbrier and Augusta Christian.
Former Cavalier wins eGolf event
In Lake Wylie, S.C., Bruce Woodall closed with 2-over-par 74 on a tough day for scoring to win the eGolf Tour’s River Hills Classic at River Hills Country Club on Saturday.
Woodall, a former Virginia standout, finished at 5-under 283. Former Augusta State golfer Taylor Floyd shot 72 and tied for eighth at 291. Mitch Krywulycz, another ex-Jaguar, closed with 76 and tied for 21st at 295.
Ex-Bulldog Isner reaches the final
In Mason, Ohio, former Georgia All-American John Isner rallied to beat seventh-seeded Juan Martin del Potro 6-7 (4), 7-6 (9), 6-3 on Saturday in a grueling Western & Southern Open semifinal.
Isner, who fell from No. 20 to 22 this week, will return to the top 20 after a stimulating Cincinnati run that includes beating three consecutive top-10 players for the first time in his career while earning his second Masters 1000 series finals appearance and first in Cincinnati.
Isner will play third-seeded Rafael Nadal, who beat sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych 7-5, 7-6 (4).
Real Solution is awarded victory
In Arlington Heights, Ill., Real Solution won the Arlington Million on Saturday when first-place finisher The Apache was disqualified to second for bumping Real Solution in the final 200 yards.
The 4-year-old Real Solution ran 1¼ miles on the turf in 2:00.99 and paid $18.80, $8.60 and $6.20. The Apache returned $7.80 and $5.60, and Side Glance paid $12.20 to show.

two men overboard before holding on to beat hobbled Italian Team Luna Rossa in a scary opener to the Louis Vuitton Cup finals on Saturday.
