Rain washes out Jackets’ twin bill
A scheduled doubleheader between the Augusta GreenJackets and Savannah Sand Gnats on Friday was postponed because of rain.
The two teams will make up the doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game beginning at 5:30 p.m. Gates will open at 5.
A doubleheader is also scheduled for Sunday, with first pitch at 1 p.m., and gates will open at 12:30. The second game of both doubleheaders will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first games.
All four games will go seven innings. The GreenJackets will start Justin Schumer and Danny Sandbrink on Saturday, and Matt Lujan and Joe Kurrasch will start Sunday.
Ex-Cav out front at eGolf event
In Lake Wylie, S.C., former Virginia golfer Bruce Woodall shot 2-under 70 on Friday to take a two-shot lead at the eGolf Tour’s River Hills Classic.
Woodall is at 7-under 209 at River Hills Country Club.
Chris Epperson (70) and Sunny Kim (72) are tied for second.
Former Augusta State golfers Mitch Krywulycz (73) and Taylor Floyd (76) are in a group tied for 14th at 219.
• A pairing party will be held for the Paine College Golf Tournament at 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at The Legends Club.
The event will provide tournament participants with their pairing and starting holes. The evening also includes entertainment by Perfect Picture, hors d’ouevres and a silent auction

Ex-Georgia star denies Djokovic
In Mason, Ohio, Novak Djokovic’s bid to become the first player to win all nine Masters events has been put on hold for at least another year.
Top-ranked American John Isner, a former Georgia star, upset Djokovic 7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-5 in the quarterfinals of the Western & Southern Open on Friday.
Isner will play seventh-seeded Juan Martin del Potro, who advanced Friday by beating qualifier Dmitry Tursunov 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
Rafael Nadal advanced to the semifinals with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 victory over longtime rival Roger Federer.
No. 2 Andy Murray was eliminated, falling to Tomas Berdych 6-3, 6-4.
In the women’s draw, 14th-seeded Jelena Jankovic beat 12th-seeded Roberta Vinci 6-0, 6-4 to reach the semifinals for the third time.
Dream roll, end four-game skid
In Atlanta, Angel McCoughtry scored 30 points, Erika de Souza had 18 points and 15 rebounds, and the Atlanta Dream snapped a four-game skid with an 88-57 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Friday night.
Iziane Castro-Marques finished with a season-high 18 points for the Sun.
Butler forward to miss season
Butler forward Roosevelt Jones will miss the upcoming season after injuring his left wrist during an exhibition game in Australia.
Jones suffered ligament damage after falling on his wrist.
The school said in a news release he will undergo season-ending surgery.
The 6-foot-4 junior was the Bulldogs top returning scorer and rebounder.
