JUNE 11-15 AND JUNE 25-29: Hickory Hill eco-adventures camp in Thomson will hold two weeklong day-camp sessions for kids 10 to 16 years old with topics that include ecology, farming, organic gardening and cooking. All activities are at Hickory Hill, 502 Hickory Hill Drive, Thomson. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cost is $60 per child per week. JUNE 16: Augusta-Aiken Audubon will hold a Wings and Things Field Trip at Aiken State Park. Meet at park entrance at 8 a.m. There is a $2 charge to get into the park. The group will look for birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Visit http://augustaaikenaudubon.org/ for more details.

JUNE 16: A S.C. concealed weapon permit class will be held at 9 a.m. at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club, Windsor, S.C. The eight-hour course meets the requirements for training prior to application for a CWP. A Certificate of Training will be issued to each student who passes the tests. Cost is $100 per person. JUNE 23: A pistol orientation class will be held from 1-5 p.m. at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club in Windsor, S.C., for beginniner shooters. Cost is $80 and pistols and ammunition are available for rental for additional costs. Contact Ed Majzlik at edmajzlik@gmail.com; or (803) 641-1742.

AUG. 3: If anyone in the Augusta area is interested in attending a U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s Licensing Course to guide fishing parties, your chance is coming up Aug. 3. Sea School Charleston will conduct the class (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) from 8 a.m., to 6 p.m., over two consecutive weekends. Cost of the course is $550. The location has yet to be determined.
