FRIDAY: The South Carolina Natural Resources Board, the policy making body of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, will meet 2 p.m. at the Marine Resources Division’s Marine Resource Research Institute classroom at 217 Fort Johnson Road, on James Island in Charleston. Board meetings are open to the public and anyone with business for the board or needing directions to the meeting should contact the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Columbia office at (803) 734-9102.

SATURDAY: An eight-hour South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit class will be presented at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club, Windsor, S.C., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A certificate of training will be issued to each student who passes the firing range and written tests. FEB. 21: The Sierra Club’s Savannah River Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church meeting room, 3501 Walton Way Ext, Augusta. FEB. 25: Augusta West Rotary Club and outdoorsmen from across the CSRA are teaming up again to raise money for Alzheimer’s and the Augusta Warrior Project by organizing the region’s largest wild-game tasting event – Taste of Something Wild. Volunteers will hold the 10th annual wild game soiree at the Julian Smith Casino Barbecue Pit on Milledge Road from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Menu items include venison, wild pig, fish, quail and several types of exotic meat. Musical entertainment will be provided by Eryn Eubanks & The Family Fold. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. MARCH 27: The National Wild Turkey Federation’s CSRA chapter will hold its heritage banquet at 6 p.m. at Savannah Rapids Pavilion in Columbia County. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7:15 p.m. There will be a live auction, silent auction and raffles. Tickets are $65 per person, $110 per couple or $550 for eight-seat business tables.
