‘Golfweek’ Tour begins in March

The Golfweek Amateur Tour will play host to 14 Augusta-area events in 2012, starting March 10 at Pointe South Golf Club and ending Sept. 22 at Goshen Plantation.

The Augusta schedule includes three major tournaments and one day visits to such courses as Applewood Golf Club, Gordon Lakes Golf Course and Monticello at Savannah Lakes.

Tournament format is stroke play, with USGA rules in effect. A software program and web page tracks each player’s Tour handicap to ensure participants are placed in their proper flight. Player Tour handicaps will be monitored throughout the season to field the most competitive flights possible.
