Ex-Pack star gets 30-year sentence

In Charleston, S.C., former Greenbrier High School football star Reggie Rice and two other men have been sentenced to 30 years in prison for their roles in two home invasions.

Prosecutors say Rice and former Citadel teammate Miguel Starks and Stephan Francois , of the College of Charleston, broke into two Charleston area homes in February 2010, including one of a former Citadel assistant coach.

All three men pleaded guilty to kidnapping, first-degree burglary and armed robbery. Starks also pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

- In New City, N.Y., former football star Lawrence Taylor was sentenced Tuesday to six years probation for an encounter with an underage prostitute.

The New York Giants ex-linebacker pleaded guilty in January to sexual misconduct and having sex with the underage prostitute.

Evans hurls a gem, leads Jags to upset

Joah Evans pitched a one- hitter as Augusta State upset No. 12 Armstrong Atlantic State 4-0.

Evans (2-3) struck out five and walked two.

Tristan Toorie had three RBI for the Jags (14-15).

- In Newberry, S.C., Josh Attaway and Josh Miller each had three RBI to lead USC Aiken to a 15-0 victory over Newberry.

Josh Cochcroft (3-1) gave up three hits in five innings.

Softball

Lady Jags take pair from West Georgia

Augusta State improved to 22-8 after sweeping West Georgia.

The Lady Jaguars won the opener 8-1 behind three-RBI performances by Kacey Sims and Jessica Thornton .

In the nightcap, the Lady Jags won 4-1 as Emily Headrick improved to 10-2.

Women's Tennis

Augusta State posts win against its rival

In Aiken, Augusta State won all three doubles matches en route to a 7-2 victory over USC Aiken.

Augusta State improved to 9-6, 4-3 Peach Belt Conference. USC Aiken, whose lone victories came at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, dropped to 7-8 and 1-6.

Men's Golf

USC Aiken finishes 11th at Cuscowilla

In Eatonton, Ga., 17th-ranked USC Aiken finished 11th in the Bobcat Invitational at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee.

The Pacers opened with 303 then closed with a pair of 290s.

Freshman Hayden Letien led USC Aiken. He closed with 71 to finish tied for 26th overall.

Lynn University won the team title.
