Crimson Tide leads by four at Palmetto
In Aiken, Alabama leads after the first two rounds at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate at Palmetto Golf Club.
Alabama has a two-round team tally of 565. The Crimson Tide opened the tournament with 288 in the first round before posting 277 in the second round.
Alabama is four strokes ahead of second place Liberty (285-284--569). Virginia (291-280) and Clemson (285-286) are tied for third at 571.
USC Aiken, the tournament host, is ninth after rounds of 296 and 283.
Matt Atkins (75-67--142) is in ninth to lead all Pacers. Other USC Aiken players include Hayden Leiten (70-73--143); Gaines Milliner (74-71--145); Mark Dickson (77-72--149); and Kyle Godsman (80-81--161).
Bud Cauley , of Alabama, is the individual leader at 132.
- In Gainesville, Fla., the Augusta State women finished ninth at the SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational.
The Lady Jaguars, who were 12th after two rounds, closed with a team total of 302.
Tournament hosts Florida dominated at Mark Bostick Golf Course, totaling 25-over 865 to win by 18 shots over Florida State.
Augusta State's Casey Kennedy had a final-round 75 to tie for 13th at 11-over.
Florida State's Hannah Thomson finished at even par to earn a two-shot win.
Augusta State's Marit Bjerke (77) tied for 35th, Natalie Wille (76) tied for 41st, Christine Duschek-Hansen (74) was 62nd and Kirsty Rands (80) tied for 67th.
Lady Pacers set to open vs. Tusculum
Third-seeded USC Aiken will face sixth-seeded Tusculum at 1 p.m. Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Women's Southeast Regional at Clayton State.
The winner of that contest will take on the Lander-Wingate winner at 5 p.m. Saturday.
NFL, players union resume labor talks
Trying to work their way to a new labor deal, Commissioner Roger Goodell and NFL Players Association head DeMaurice Smith resumed negotiations for four hours Monday.
The sides plan to meet again today.

- The late Derrick Thomas , of Alabama, quarterback Tommie Frazier , of Nebraska, and tailback Lorenzo White , of Michigan State, are among the college football stars making their first appearance on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot this season.
In all, 79 player were listed on the ballot. The latest Hall of Fame class will be announced in May.

Four-time champion leads Iditarod again
In Willow, Alaska, four-time defending champion Lance Mackey has the lead in the 2011 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
Mackey was the first musher to reach the Rainy Pass checkpoint, about 190 miles into the race.
