Jackets won't make up rained out game

Tuesday night's game between the Augusta GreenJackets and Hickory Crawdads at Lake Olmstead Stadium was canceled because of heavy rain and will not be made up.

Evans player third in section division

In Hawkinsville, Ga., Walker Bottomley , of Evans, shot 75 on Tuesday and is in third place in the 12-13-year-old division of Georgia Junior Sectional Match at Southern Hills Golf Club.

Bottomley is competing for the East section in the two-day event.

Brent Roberson, also of Evans, shot 79 for the East in 16-17 division and is tied for fifth.

Carson Spears, of Augusta, shot 78 for the East in the 14-15 division and is tied for sixth.

In the girls 12-13 division, Macy Cochran, of Evans, shot 48 over nine holes for the East and is ninth.

Ragan Bailey, of Waynesboro, Ga., shot 58 for the East in the girls 11-under division and is sixth.

The Northwest section leads with 33.86 points.

Mixed Martial Arts

Seven local fighters earn championships

Competitors from Greubel's Mixed Martial Arts took home seven championships last weekend at the IKF World Classic in Orlando, Fla.

The local winners were Amica Olchavik, Edgar Nickson, Tony Lester, Nathan Key, Nicholas Torrance, Stephanie Stafford and Cord Conaway.

USA Swimming acknowledged to The Associated Press on Tuesday that it has a second list of people who are under suspicion for unscrupulous behavior, having already banned 46 coaches and officials for life, mostly for sexual misconduct.
