SOUTH CAROLINA: Receiver Alshon Jeffery broke his hand during the first quarter of Saturday’s win over Clemson.

Trainers for the No. 14 Gamecocks said Jeffery had surgery on his left hand Monday to fix the broken bone.

They say the junior will begin rehabilitation next week. He will be evaluated again later, but is probable for South Carolina’s bowl game.

Jeffery hurt the hand during the first quarter and went to the locker room. He came back to catch two passes for 29 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Also, the Gamecocks say offensive guard Terrence Campbell suffered a cracked bone in his leg at the end of the first half against Clemson. He also is probable for the bowl game.

GEORGIA: The team’s assistant football coaches, who had reason to wonder about their job security after the Bulldogs’ started the season 0-2, will be rewarded for reaching the SEC championship game.

Mark Richt’s nine assistants will receive bonuses worth a combined $191,500 for Georgia playing in the game, under the Athletic Association’s bonus structure obtained in an open records request.
