NASHVILLE, Tenn. — John Jenkins scored 21 points and Vanderbilt beat South Carolina 59-48 on Wednesday night for its third consecutive victory.
The Commodores (20-8, 9-4 Southeastern Conference) remained in sole possession of third in the SEC, a game behind No. 12 Florida.
South Carolina (10-17, 2-11) was held to a season-low in points as the Gamecocks lost for the seventh time in eight games.
Bruce Ellington led the Gamecocks with 15 points.
NO. 2 SYRACUSE 56, SOUTH FLORIDA 48
In Syracuse, N.Y., Scoop Jardine scored 15 points to help Syracuse (28-1, 15-1 Big East) overcome a 13-point first-half deficit and beat South Florida (17-11, 10-5).
Kris Joseph had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Orange (28-1, 15-1 Big East), who matched school records for most regular-season and conference victories.
NO. 4 KANSAS 66, TEXAS A&M 58
In College Station, Texas, Elijah Johnson scored 21 points and Tyshawn Taylor made key plays down the stretch to help Kansas (23-5, 13-2 Big 12) fight off a late run by Texas A&M (13-14, 4-11).
Kansas led by as many as 21 points in the second half before a big run by the Aggies.
NO. 6 MICHIGAN STATE 66, MINNESOTA 61
In Minneapolis, Keith Appling and Brandon Wood both scored 13 points to key Michigan State’s victory over Minnesota (17-11, 5-10), helping the Spartans (23-5, 12-3) keep their hold on first place in the Big Ten.
Draymond Green had 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Spartans.
NO. 10 MARQUETTE 82, RUTGERS 65
In Milwaukee, Jae Crowder scored 27 points and Darius Johnson-Odom added 21 to lead Marquette (23-5, 12-3 Big East) over Rutgers (12-16, 4-11).
The win kept the Golden Eagles tied for second place in the Big East with No. 20 Notre Dame. The top four teams earn a double-bye for the conference tournament.
NO. 19 WICHITA STATE 68, ILLINOIS STATE 55
In Normal, Ill., Joe Ragland scored 14 points to lead Wichita State (25-4, 15-2) over Illinois State (17-12, 8-9) to clinch the Missouri Valley Conference championship.
NO. 20 NOTRE DAME 71, WEST VIRGINIA 44
In South Bend, Ind., Jerian Grant scored 20 points and Notre Dame (20-8, 12-3 Big East) extended its winning streak to nine games with a rout of West Virginia (17-11, 7-8).
The Irish outscored the Mountaineers 41-16 in the second half after leading by just two points at the break.

In Philadelphia, Ramone Moore scored five of his 18 points in overtime to help Temple (22-5, 11-2 Atlantic 10) beat La Salle (18-10, 7-6), the Owls’ 11th consecutive win.
NO. 23 INDIANA 75, N.C. CENTRAL 56
In Bloomington, Ind., Cody Zeller had 17 points and seven rebounds and Victor Oladipo scored 16 points, leading Indiana (21-7) past North Carolina Central (14-13).
LOUISIANA STATE 61, GEORGIA 53
In Baton Rouge, La., Andre Stringer scored 18 points to lead Louisiana State University over Georgia.
Stringer matched his career-high with four 3-pointers. His last 3-pointer ignited a 9-2 run, which helped the Tigers (17-10, 7-6) pick up their fifth win in six games.
Georgia cut its deficit to four points at 57-53 when Gerald Robinson made a layup with 27 seconds to play. The Bulldogs (12-15, 3-10) didn’t score again, while both Ralston Turner and Justin Hamilton sank a pair of foul shots for the Tigers.
Robinson scored 17 points to lead Georgia.
