Aquinas football star Brendan Douglas has switched his commitment from Georgia Tech to Georgia, just days before National Signing Day on Wednesday, Irish coach Matt LeZotte confirmed late Friday night.
Douglas, who rushed for 1,424 yards and made 157 tackles this season, committed to Georgia Tech in November.
At the time of his commitment to the Yellow Jackets, Douglas said he thought other schools similar to Georgia Tech would have shown interest in him — and Georgia finally did, thus causing the switch as the Bulldogs offered.
As a senior, Douglas led the Irish to an 8-3 record and an appearance in the Class A private state playoffs. The previous season, Douglas and Aquinas made it to the Class A state quarterfinals as he rushed for more than 1,569 yards as a junior.
With Douglas starring, the Irish went 17-7 the past two seasons.
