ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia fans who attend Saturday's season opener against Louisiana-Lafayette will be greeted with a lot of newness in and around Sanford Stadium.
New quarterback. New defense. New athletic director. New tailgating restrictions. New parking enforcement. New outdoor plaza. New concessions. New sideline radio voice.
About the only new thing not ready is the new Uga. Interim mascot Russ will still hunker down in his usual spot until a replacement Uga VIII is chosen by homecoming Oct. 16.
Here are some things you need to know to be ready for the 2010 kickoff in Athens:
In an ongoing effort to curb damage to the historic North Campus on game days, stringent regulations have been enacted.
Tailgating on North Campus -- which includes all areas bounded by Broad, Lumpkin, Baldwin and Jackson streets -- will be allowed four hours before kickoff, which for Saturday's opener is 12:21 p.m.
Now prohibited on North Campus are tents, kegs, grills, coolers, generators, televisions, amplified music, tables longer than 4 feet and household furniture.
Tailgaters who still wish to bring their traditional accessories are encouraged to find other spaces. One option is the D.W. Brooks pedestrian mall that extends through the heart of campus from Carlton Street.
The alleyway on the northeast corner of the stadium has been transformed into a 30,000-square-foot gathering area called Reed Plaza, with new restrooms and additional concessions.
No pull-behind items (trailers, cookers, etc.) will be allowed in any on-campus parking areas. Any vehicle with a pull-behind item will be directed to off-campus parking. Golf carts and ATVs also are prohibited.
No sidewalk parking will be permitted, including the Carlton Street area. Additionally, the ban on setting up tailgates (tents, tables, chairs, etc.) in parking spaces will be re-emphasized, and will include spaces controlled by the Athletic Association.
Because of construction, the main entrance to the Hull Street parking deck will be closed until at least Sept. 17. Access to that deck will be via the north entrance off Waddell Street. Construction also will alter access to the Baxter and Physical Plant reserved lots.
Public parking will be available in the Carlton Street and Performing Arts Center decks for $20. The Carlton Street deck is within walking distance of the D.W. Brooks mall.

Football fans will quickly get acquainted after kickoff with freshman quarterback Aaron Murray, and defensive coordinator Todd Grantham and his newly installed 3-4 defense. Also in the house will be brand new director of athletics Greg McGarity, who took over the reins Aug. 30.
Those tuning into the Bulldogs' radio broadcast will miss longtime sideline reporter Loran Smith, who abdicated his duties after more than three decades. Taking over that role will be Chuck Dowdle, a former TV sportscaster from Atlanta who is the host of Mark Richt's weekly football show.
Fans still interested in "Whaddayagot Loran" can hear him during the pregame radio show. The postgame show will include former Georgia stars Kevin Butler and David Greene.
While the Seiler family waits for puppy candidates to get big enough to fit the sweater of Uga VIII, the spotted Russ will resume the duties. Russ went 2-0 late last season when his half-brother died suddenly in November of heart complications.
