RiverHawks lose McGill, gain Mironov

Roster shake up continues

A midseason shuffle of the Augusta RiverHawks roster continued today when forward Aaron McGill left the team for the Central Hockey League, while Egor Mironov began his journey back to Augusta.

McGill, second in the Southern Professional Hockey League with 102 penalty minutes, left for the CHL's Allen Americans.

Head coach Brad Ralph said Mironov has not yet signed with the team but did confirm that he had made contact with the 24-year-old forward. Mironov said he was "Georgia bound" on his Twitter account this afternoon.

"I don't like to say anything (about a signing) until it's official and I see him here myself," Ralph said. "We have been talking."

Mironov was a part of last season's inaugural RiverHawks team that reached the SPHL finals. He tallied 42 points (23 goals, 19 assists) in 56 regular season games.

The team's roster shakeup begain earlier this week when Ralph released Nick Wheeler and Sean Stagles and added Tyler Howe and Brendan Taylor. The large number of moves came in the wake of a slow ending to 2011 that saw Augusta drop four of its last five games and lose its position alone atop the league standings.

The RiverHawks will play three games in four nights this week, starting at home Thursday.
