FRIDAY-SUNDAY: Graves Mountain, a former mine in Lincoln County, Ga., will be open to the public for the semiannual Rock, Swap & Dig event, in which visitors can chisel away at rock outcrops in search of minerals. SATURDAY: The second annual Benderdinker canoe and kayak festival will be held as paddlers cast off from Columbia County’s Riverview Park boat ramp on Betty’s Branch in Evans. The two-hour non-competitive paddle is designed to promote and encourage the use of the Savannah River and the region’s related natural resources. APRIL 29: An introductory carbine class offering basics of the AR -15 Carbine Rifle will be held at Pinetucky Gun Club from 5:30-9 p.m. The class will cover safety, parts of rifle, marksmanship, loading, unloading, zeroing rifle, range shooting exercises, clearing stoppages and rifle maintenance. MAY 4: The 16th Annual Pendleton King Park’s Plant Swap and Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park’s Franke Pavilion. The park is located at 1600 Troupe Street. This not-for-profit plant sale funds volunteer improvement projects at the park. Participants can share plants and trade with other gardeners. Master Gardeners will be selling plants and answering gardening questions. People wishing to donate plants for the fund-raising sale to benefit the park are invited to bring their items to the PKP Franke Pavilion on May 3 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
