SATURDAY: The Augusta Museum of History and the Augusta Archaeological Society will hold an Archeology Day at the 1797 Ezekiel Harris House, 1822 Broad Street, Augusta. Archaeologists will identify and classify prehistoric and historic artifacts and collections; Paleo-Indian and Dalton period projectile points will be formally recorded; and artifacts from local historic sites will be on display. MAY 12: A Kids Fishing Derby will be held at Lake Russell at the Calhoun Falls Bank Fishing Area, located between the Highway 72 Bridge and Calhoun Falls, S.C. Registration is from 8- 8:30 a.m. Fishing hours are from 8-11:00 a.m., followed by a 45-minute water safety program. The event concludes with a hot dog lunch and prizes beginning at noon. A free lunch will be provided for all participants ages 15 and under. Children 15 and under are not required to have a fishing license.
