Ironman of the Day: Kim Bragg

Kim Bragg

AGE: 50

FROM: Augusta

OCCUPATION: Broker, Bragg & Associates Real Estate, LLC

EXPERIENCE: In January 2012, she received a postcard from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society about triathlons. The postcard hit home – her mother died from cancer and her aunt was battling lymphoma at the time.

“This was just something I thought I could do,” she said.

Bragg started her triathlon career with an Olympic distance event that July. She followed that with the Augusta Half-Marathon in February. Bragg continued her work with four sprint distance triathlons this year.

“I’ve met such wonderful people doing this. It’s such a great camaraderie,” she said. “You train with these people, and everyone pulls everyone through.”

GAME PLAN: She will attempt to meet her goal for her first intermedix Ironman 70.3 Augusta – she wants to finish in seven hours.

In the swimming leg, Bragg said she should finish in about 30 minutes. Then, she moves on to her strong suit – cycling. And though she readily admits running is not her strong suit, she is getting better.

“My goal is to go out there and have a good a time and finish,” she said. “I’m never going to be the fastest out there. I do this as stress relief.”
