Reese Hoffa finishes fourth in shot put at world championships

United States' Reese Hoffa competes in the men's shot put final at the World Athletics Championships in the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow, Russia, on Friday.

MOSCOW — Reese Hoffa, of the United States, finished fourth in the shot put at the world championships on Friday.

The former Lakeside and Georgia standout’s best throw was 69 feet, 3 inches.

David Storl, of Germany, retained his title. His winning throw of 71-3 was first flagged for a foul but later reinstated.

Ryan Whiting of the United States, the season’s top performer, took the silver with a throw of 70-9¼ and Dylan Armstrong, of Canada earned the bronze, at 70-0¼.
