2 Pacers receive Peach Belt honor

Ron Zimmerman and Kayla Harris of the University of South Carolina Aiken have been selected as Peach Belt Conference basketball players of the week.

Zimmerman, a junior guard, had a career-high 34 points and hit seven 3-pointers in the Pacers’ 96-82 home victory over Mount Olive on Thursday.

Harris had 25 points and eight rebounds in USC Aiken’s 73-65 win on the road against Wingate on Friday. The preseason All-American is one point away from becoming the ninth women’s player in USC Aiken’s NCAA Division II era to score 1,000 points or more in her career.

Eury Jr. to head Stremme’s crew

Tony Eury Jr. will return to the Sprint Cup Series as crew chief for David Stremme at upstart Swan Racing.

Monday’s hiring was part of new owner Brandon Davis’ plan to use the offseason to make the team competitive.

Eury had spent the past three seasons as crew chief for Danica Patrick at JR Motorsports until his release from the Nationwide Series team in September because of a difference in philosophy between Eury and cousin Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Eury also had been a co-owner of JR Motorsports. He won 19 Sprint Cup races with Michael Waltrip and Earnhardt at Dale Earnhardt Inc., and he went with Earnhardt to Hendrick Motorsports in 2008.

He and Earnhardt won a pair of races at Hendrick Motorsports but were split apart 12 races into the 2009 season. Eury then moved full-time to JR Motorsports.

Russian thrower could lose medal

Russia’s anti-doping agency says discus thrower Darya Pishchalnikova has been provisionally suspended by the IAAF after a positive doping test that could cost her the silver medal from the London Olympics.

RUSADA said the world governing body suspended Pishchalnikova dating to Oct. 31 pending a final ruling in the case.

Pishchalnikova tested positive for the banned substance Oxandrolone in a reanalysis of a sample taken in an out-of-competition control last May.

Draft will make prime-time debut

With Brittney Griner the top prize, the WNBA draft will be televised live in prime time for the first time.

The league announced Monday that the first round will air on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. on April 15.

Griner, the Baylor star, is among the big names in a draft class that also includes Notre Dame’s Skylar Diggins. The Phoenix Mercury own the first pick.

Stubhub reaches new MLB deal

Major League Baseball Advanced Media and StubHub.com announced a new five-year deal Monday that continues the Web site’s role as the official secondary ticket market for the sport while eliminating
the cheap listings that had become an eyesore for some clubs.

The minimum price for baseball tickets on StubHub in 2013 will be $6, a far more appealing number for the league after some seats were listed for pocket change during the first five-year deal, which expired after this past season.

The $6 ticket includes commissions and the delivery fee for the Web site, which previously charged customers at least $10.40 after they selected their seats.
