Ironman of the Day: Meredith Atwood

Atwood

NAME: Meredith Atwood

AGE: 32

FROM: Lawrenceville, Ga.

OCCUPATION: Lawyer, owner/operator of swimbikemom.com, soon-to-be-author of book about triathlons for women

EXPERIENCE: Started competing in 5k events in 2010 before participating in her first Ironman 70.3 last year in Miami. This will be her second Ironman 70.3.

GAME PLAN: In 2010, Atwood was overweight with a 2-year-old and 3-year-old. She felt miserable and said she had to do something to get in better shape. She has been steadily building her endurance, and despite breaking her foot in February, she said she’s ready for Augusta.

“I just want to keep my head up and stay positive and stay happy,” Atwood said, who added she has no time goals in mind. “I do this because I have an opportunity to see a lot of great athletes.”
